Streptomyces is  the LARGESTgenus of Actinobacteria.

They are the most WIDELY STUDIED, MOST WELL KNOWN genus from the Actinomycete family.

There are more than 500 species of Streptomyces across the globe! Some of which include

Streptomyces coelicor

        Streptomyces lividans

        Streptomyces albicans

        Streptomyces griseus!

        Streptomyces plicatoporus

All Streptomycin are INFREQUENT PATHOGENS, meaning they are infectous agents.

The bacteria in this genus are vital in the decomposition of organic matter into soil.

They produce the WORLD'S MAJORITY of antibiotics, such as streptomycin and tetracycline.

Because they world's main producers of antibioitcs, they are INVALUABLE in the medical field.

All streptomycin are gram-positive, aerobic bacteria, meaning they need oxygen in order to live.

They all form a long string-like net called a mycelium that has chains of spores when the bacteria is mature.
